The Employee Appreciation Committee is a well-oiled machine of talented, giving volunteers who organize and produce monthly gift bags, volunteers who bake cookies for the bags, and, now, volunteers who create beautifully designed thank you cards for the gift bags. The Committee, now in its second year of operation, recently welcomed Linda Lennon, the volunteer and creator of gorgeous thank you note cards to be used in the gift bags.
Always looking for a good cause to use these well-made cards, Linda offered to make the cards for the Employee Celebration Committee’s thank you notes. Linda has also produced cards for the HCC residents and held classes for others to share the joy in making these highly stylized cards.
The idea to offer a small gesture of appreciation to the employees at Moravian Village began small with the committee’s first iteration of appreciation by offering candy and balloons for the nursing staff. Over time, the employee appreciation morphed into an employee celebration committee the celebrates all departments throughout the year. The resident volunteers create and deliver individual, celebratory white paper bags of homemade cookies, chocolate candies, and a personalized handwritten thank you note to each employee of one specific department every month. It is the personalized, human-created notes that express the gratitude and emotional warmth that only a handwritten note can offer. Of course, the homemade cookies are a much-appreciated gift as is the candy.
The Employee Appreciation Committee may have begun small but is now a testament to the joy of giving back to those who do so much for residents. It has become a magnet for residents like Linda Lennon and her card creators, the legion of wonderful volunteer bakers, and the committee members who all respond to a good cause with full hearts.
