Moravian Village is a 55+ Continuing Care Retirement Community, and there are income requirements as well; you or your partner must be age 55+, and the income requirements vary with the size and style of accommodation you choose.

Residents do not have to be Moravian to live at Moravian Village. There is a wide array of diversity in our community, which adds breadth and depth and creates a stimulating atmosphere in which residents can thrive, learn and grow. Many of our residents are former educators, authors, engineers, doctors, clergy, artists, and scientists, just to name a few.

Market Street Cottages is 100% pet friendly, but there are certain suite areas that do not accommodate pets.

Market Street cottages are one-story homes, some with basements, all with either a one- or two-car garage, and varying sized patios, decks and yards. The suites building features four sizes of living accommodations, a few custom apartments, and a variety of services and amenities right in the building. All the enrichment opportunities and dining venues are open to all residents, regardless of living accommodation chosen. The suites building is dually licensed, meaning you can receive licensed personal care services from the staff who work for Moravian Village in your apartment without moving to another location on campus.

The age of residents who move in is widely varied, but has been trending younger in recent years. As young as age 59 to as young as 89; the average is 72-74. The average resident age is 82-84; due in large measure to individuals in Continuing Care Retirement Communities having longer than average life expectancies. It is a known fact that human beings thrive when their lives are filled with friendships and purpose. At Moravian Village, friendships and purpose are the fiber of our being.

Moravian Village is one mile to Downtown Historic Moravian Bethlehem. Historic Moravian Bethlehem is a candidate for inscription on the World Heritage List and will be honored to receive international acknowledgement, bestowed upon the community for its wealth of historical and cultural value. The World Heritage List encourages the recognition and preservation of cultural and/or natural sites determined to be of “Outstanding Universal Value” to humanity, and includes globally iconic sites such as the Great Wall of China, the Acropolis in Athens, Greece; and the Sydney Opera House in Australia. Confirmation of the designation is anticipated in 2024.

Moravian Village partners with the Bethlehem Area School District, where our residents have spearheaded two reading programs in which residents travel to the schools to provide reading support to elementary and middle school students. Moravian Village also collaborates with the City of Bethlehem to cultivate volunteer projects in need in the city, parks, playgrounds and schools. Our parent company, Bethlehem Area Moravians, leads the charge in donating food, clothing, backpacks, and sponsorship dollars to many nonprofit organizations in need in the Bethlehem community. Residents of Moravian Village join in the effort by putting in volunteer hours to help make these donations come to fruition.

Moravian Village has solid connections with top leaders, professionals, and difference makers in the Lehigh Valley community, and consistently bring in professional speakers on just about any topic in any industry.

Moravian Village offers an Alzheimer’s Support Group once a month. During this group session, we have created a Memory and Me Program which provides Music Therapy to residents to help provide the caretaker with ease and comfort while in the support group session.

The Historic Bethlehem Museums & Sites, a nonprofit organization, is an affiliate of the Smithsonian Institution, and was founded in 1993 to coordinate the sites, museums, artifacts and traditions of Historic Moravian Bethlehem. Historic Bethlehem Museums & Sites maintains 20 historic buildings and sites in Bethlehem. The group is a founding member of the International Moravian Heritage Network and serves to highlight the community on the global stage. Its vision is to develop in visitors and residents of the community a broad appreciation of Bethlehem's rich heritage from its earliest Native American and Moravian roots to modern times of Bethlehem today. The mission of HBMS is bring Bethlehem's history to life by preserving historic sites; collecting, conserving, and exhibiting our historic and artistic objects; understanding and acknowledging the diverse populations that contribute to our history; and conveying our history to the public in an engaging manner.

ArtQuest is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide access to exceptional artistic, cultural and educational experiences using arts and culture as key elements of economic development for our urban communities. ArtsQuest supports this mission via the presentation of performing and visual arts, film, arts education classes and outreach, youth programming and cultural events. Through festivals such as its flagship event, Musikfest; the Banana Factory Arts Center; and the ArtsQuest Center and SteelStacks arts and cultural campus, ArtsQuest’s programming reaches more than 1.9 million people annually. The organization’s programs and events, approximately 50 percent of which are free to attend, have a combined economic impact of more than $136 million annually in the region.
